Three of our student AASA members (Hunter Stewart, Brianna Hayes, and Kendall Wilson) will be presenting at a Portland conference next Saturday (Oct. 18th) along with Ms. Pilgrim, Ms. Lindahl, and Mr. Medley.

Our presentation is called, "Why am I the only black student in this class?" We will look at enrollment data in science classes around the nation and at GHS. Students will discuss what has caused our enrollment inequities, and then we will lead workshop participants through an examination of the high schools they work at or attend. Ultimately, we will talk about how to address these problems.

This will all happen at the Northwest Teachers for Social Justice conference at Madison High School. Check out the program here! Students are welcome to attend (cost is $5 and includes lunch, REGISTER HERE).
